A survey done by tech industry lobbying firm SVLG shows that of its constituent members, 70% would support the A's in San Jose. Surprisingly, many of those companies already support the Giants yet would support both the Giants and A's if the A's relocated south. The timing makes it almost certain that the survey's results will be mentioned in tonight's City Council session. It's quite reassuring for San Jose partisans, who appear to be building a case for the move, the first tenet being the South Bay's "independence" from T-rights.
A list of SVLG's 293 members can be found here. Note that it isn't restricted to Silicon Valley, though most of the roster is based there.

This figure isn't supposed to be surprising, is it? I bet if you polled San Jose's divorce lawyers and asked them if they're in favor of same sex marriage, you'd get a similar response.
That's great; these are the Giants core customers. It would be fantastic if SVLG put pressure on the Giants to back off.
The best part is that some would continue supporting the Giants. That should ease some fears on the other side, at least a bit.
I'm sure this is an unbiased survey.
Can't wait to hear the spin from Neukom/Baer on this one: "well, this survey, while the truth, just isn't good enough for us. If just one of our corporate sponsorships is threatened by the A's 51 miles away in downtown San Jose, we'll fight to keep the A's out of our territory (and then hopefully they think about going to Sac or Vegas, and we'll have the entire Bay Area to our selfish selves...all mine, mine, mine!)"
I don't have a dog in this fight, being an eastcoaster and all, but how much can you trust the poll results in this? 'Oh yeah, sure, we wil still support the Giants. We'll just double our sponsorship and corporate relations budget.' I wonder (and I don't really know the answer) whether all those DC lobbying firms kept their luxury seats in Candem Yards after the Nationals moved to DC? I would guess not.
The story was reported on KTVU last night though with the emphasis on the opposite. They seemed to stress that many companies would support the A's but that few would support both teams. Maybe they still see things in Orange and Black despite no longer being the Giants station.
